Danika Galea, a center from Malta, committed to Arkansas women’s basketball on Wednesday.

With her commitment, she became the fourth international prospect in the last two signing classes to pledge to Coach Mike Neighbors and the Razorbacks.

Galea, 6-2, was named MVP of the U18 European Championships in 2023 after averaging 28 and 19 rebounds in 5 games. She helped Malta, an island country in Southern Europe, win the gold medal in Division C.

She had 18 points and 10 rebounds in the championship game and shot 8 of 11 from the field. The 56-47 victory over Albania 56-47 was uMalta’s first title since 2007.

Galea recorded a double-double in every game of the tournament. She was also voted the best center in the event.

She joined Finland forward Pinja Paananen, who signed with the Razorbacks on May 6, as the team’s second spring pledge. Arkansas has freshman guard Phoenix Stotijn, 5-9, of Haarlem, Netherlands, and sophomore forward Cristina Sanchez Cerqueira, 6-1, of Granada, Spain, on the 2024-25 roster.

The Razorbacks have also added a pair of transfers since the 2023-24 season ended. Guard Izzy Higginbottom (Arkansas State) and forward Vera Ojenuwa (Barton Community College) have signed with Arkansas.
