On January 3, 2023, the former skipper Mohammad Hafeez announced his retirement from international cricket, however he is still active in domestic tournaments.

The veteran cricketer has had an outstanding career, having played for Pakistan across all forms. He ended his Test career in 2018 and played his final ODI at Lord’s during the 2019 World Cup. He had an amazing return in the T20 format in 2020, though, and ended the year as the top run-scorer in the game’s shortest version.

This sad tragedy has once again shown how much the nation needs to improve security measures for everyone, not just cricket players. Authorities must act immediately to prevent such crimes from occurring and to provide a secure environment for everyone.
