A new LGBTIQ+ friendly NGO has hit the streets. Meet The Malta LGBTIQ+ Sports Association!
“Our mission is to create a diverse, supportive sporting community that welcomes all gender identities and sexual orientations,” the organisation told Lovin Malta. MLSA’s intentions are to “emphasise well-being, advocate for positive change and raise awareness” about the stigma and challenges faced by LGBTIQ+ persons in the sports industry. However, they primarily have a ultimate goal to bring international LGBT sporting events to our country.
In fact, to kickstart their debut, MLSA will be hosting a Tennis Tournament featuring 90 international athletes and 10 local talents! The event will take place from 27th till 29th September at the Marsa Sports Club, with the 25th and 26th featuring training sessions and icebreaker events. On top of that, a special Lollipop party on the 28th will be held where the local community can mingle with the international guests.
The event is in partnership with The Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance, an international gay positive tennis association that’s been in the public eye since 1991 and proudly sanctions over 70 tournaments worldwide annually. Moreover, the local organisation is also backed by local organisations Gay Guide Malta, Qtravel Malta as well as the official Tennis Federation Malta.
