Malta’s new flagship carrier, KM Malta Airlines, is gearing up to commence operations on 31 March, 2024.

The current national carrier, Air Malta, will cease to operate on March 30th after failing to get a much needed cash injection from the European Commission.

With a fleet of eight Airbus 320 NEO aircraft featuring business and economy cabins, KM Malta Airlines will serve 17 European destinations for its inaugural summer season. This includes services to Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Catania, Dusseldorf, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Lyon, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Paris Orly, Prague, Rome, Vienna and Zurich.

Through a previously announced codeshare agreement with Lufthansa Group, the nascent carrier said it will “seamlessly integrate” its network across additional European and international destinations.

Since opening for bookings in December 2023, the carrier said it has seen “robust demand” for both its business class and flexible economy fares from the UK market.
