Three bids submitted for Msida Creek project

Infrastructure Malta

Infrastructure Malta has concluded the tender process for the Msida Creek project, attracting three competitive bids for this significant infrastructure development.

The agency said the project aims to replace existing traffic light junctions with a new flyover and incorporate facilities for alternative modes of travel, emphasising its commitment to improving infrastructure quality, efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

The three bids received are as follows:

  • EPE JV – €34,700,007.77
  • SHINING STAR INFRASTRUCTURE AND CONSTRUCTION CO. LTD – €49,749,766.90
  • RM CONSTRUCTION LTD – €40,798,652.99

The adjudication process will commence immediately to select the most suitable partner for the project.

The project includes a 10-year operations and maintenance period and envisions major upgrades to the surrounding areas, incorporating new recreational zones.

The Planning Authority recently approved new plans for the project, drawing mixed reactions from civil society.

Among others, the Msida Creek Project has faced criticism from NGOs, including Rota, Moviment Graffitti, and Friends of the Earth Malta, highlighting concerns about connectivity for alternative transport users and prioritising traffic flow over active and public transport.
