The Malta International Airport’s Meteorological Office has issued a weather warning for the upcoming days, anticipating thundery and windy conditions from Wednesday through Friday evening.
Isolated showers are also expected on Saturday, gradually diminishing by the afternoon. Wind strengths ranging from Force 2 to Force 5 are predicted during this period, with an increase in West-Northwest wind intensity, peaking on Saturday.
Despite the adverse weather, conditions are expected to normalise overnight between Saturday and Sunday.
The announcement comes after Malta experienced an unusually dry and warm October, marking the driest month on record with only 0.2mm of precipitation, significantly below the monthly average of 77.6mm.
The prolonged dry spell was attributed to a persistent high-pressure system settling over the Mediterranean, contributing to unseasonably high temperatures. Residents and visitors are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions during this period of inclement weather.
