A 26-year-old man from Syria, suspected of carrying out a series of thefts by jumping from roof to roof in Gżira and Msida, was arrested as he was leaving one of the neighbourhoods.

The arrest followed several days of observation and intensive investigations by the Police.

The suspect was identified on Sunday after the Police conducted a surveillance operation in the vicinity of Msida. Here, they observed a masked individual dressed in all black clothing, moving from one roof to another.

The Police immediately recognised this individual as the same person wanted for breaking into homes by scaling roofs and accessing people’s balconies.

Following thorough searches in the affected neighbourhoods and residences, the culprit was identified as a 26-year-old man from Syria.

The suspect was apprehended on C De Brocktorff Street in Msida as he exited a residence.

Investigations revealed that the initial reports of thefts were made in early April 2024.

The man is expected to appear in court later today. Meanwhile, Police investigations are ongoing.
